Lifelong Learning for all is central to the future development of Skye, learndirect scotland, chief executive, Frank Pignatelli said today.
Mr Pignatelli was speaking during a visit to Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on Skye to discuss the expansion of learning opportunities with College Director of Development, Donnie Munro.
Mr Pignatelli said, "learndirect scotland is committed to helping people throughout Scotland get easy access to learning opportunities.
"We are doing this through our free phone helpline, 0808 100 9000, and by building a network of learndirect scotland learning centres throughout the country.
"On-line learning is of-course key to this. Organisations like learndirect scotland use on-line learning to help destroy peripherality. With this sort of technology, location is no longer a major issue for colleges like Sabhal Mòr Ostaig. It also opens up many more opportunities for learners.
"For learning to be a success it must be at a time, place and pace, convenient to the learner. This is one of the central planks of everything we do. learndirect scotland is committed to learning when, where and how the learner wants it.
