FÀS MÒR WELCOMES A NEW MANAGER

Kirsten Shearer has taken up the post of manager at Fàs Mòr, the Gaelic child care centre in Sleat, Isle of Skye. Kirsten hails from Inverurie and after acquiring her degree in Gaelic she spent a year at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and most recently worked at Bunsgoil Shlèite.

Kirsten said, “I’m delighted to take up my new post and I look forward to working with both the staff and children at Fàs Mòr in contributing to the centre and also the wider community.”

Fàs Mòr opened in 2004 and at the moment can cater for up to twenty five children. It is currently situated at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig but will move to new premises early next year when the Fàs building opens at the college. With this new centre the capacity at the centre will double and will cater for up to 50 children.

The Fàs Mòr board members are encouraged by Kirsten’s new appointment as manager. Claire Hannah said “We are delighted to welcome Kirsten to our team and we are confident that she will contribute greatly to Fàs Mòr at this important time for the centre.”

Fàs Mòr is the only childcare facility of its kind on the Island that provides day-care to children solely through the medium of Gaelic.
