ANOTHER AWARD FOR SABHAL MÒR

Professor Norman N Gillies, Director of Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, was honoured by the Highland Branch of the Saltire Society at a ceremony at the Culloden Battlefield and Visitor Centre on St Andrew’s Day.

The award, for excellence in the contribution to the understanding of Highland culture, was presented to Professor Gillies by branch convener Hector MacDonald.

Norman Gillies said “This is a great personal honour and I am happy to accept for a number of reasons. In the first place this award recognises the excellent work Sabhal Mòr does in promoting Gaelic language and culture and its role in Scottish life.  I really appreciated receiving this award in 2007, they year that Scotland celebrates Highland Culture.  It was an added bonus to receive the award on St Andrew’s Day.
